Krabbenhoft was 38 years old when he was hired as president and CEO of Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls in December of 1996. Many of Krabbenhoft's efforts – adding heart and cancer components, boosting orthopedic care, seeking mergers – foreshadowed his success in Sioux Falls.
